Lecture Abstract:
Implant dentistry has evolved significantly over the past decades, achieving high success rates and predictable outcomes. However, complications—both biological and mechanical—remain an inherent part of daily clinical practice. Understanding their etiology, early diagnosis, and effective management is essential to ensure long-term implant success.
This lecture will provide a comprehensive overview of the most common complications in implant dentistry, including peri-implant diseases, soft and hard tissue deficiencies, and prosthetic failures. Evidence-based protocols for their prevention and management will be discussed, with a strong focus on clinical decision-making.
In addition, modern strategies aimed at minimizing complications will be presented, emphasizing minimally invasive approaches, preservation of tissue architecture, and optimization of immediate implant placement protocols. Practical guidelines and step-by-step clinical insights will be shared to help clinicians improve outcomes while reducing patient morbidity.
The goal of this session is to equip practitioners with the knowledge and tools necessary to prevent, recognize, and manage complications effectively, ultimately enhancing the predictability and success of implant therapy.
